Love Letters to Self.

Today

I want you to think about

all that you are

instead of all that you are not.

Dear Survivor,

Some seasons are just harder than others. There are dates, details, places, or even people (behaviors, etc) that can trigger subconscious emotions that will leave you feeling powerless or insignificant. In these moments it is easy to lose sight on the very present value that you possess just by being yourself. Additionally, when you add in experiences like betrayal, heartache, or loss, you may find yourself in an unplanned deep, dark space. While extremely difficult at times, a beautiful exercise to help find your way back to a space of healing is to journal or, in particular, write a letter to yourself. There is something about writing down words that cements their meaning. I’ve always been a fan of writing an old fashioned (love) letter or sending a handwritten card; these days, I sometimes opt for the easier, electronic route. Today I want to share an excerpt from a note that I wrote to myself when I needed courage to exit an emotionally damaging situation and navigate my way to healing:

“Can I tell you how amazing you are? You. Yes, you! And whether today is a day that you successfully scale mountains or find yourself simply struggling just to get out of bed, I want you to know that you are:

Authentic. Blooming. Courageous. Determined.

Empowered. Fearless. Graceful.

Heroine. Incomparable. Justified. Kinetic.

Lionhearted. Multifaceted. Noteworthy. Overcoming. Phenomenal.

Qualified. Resilient. S U R V I V O R.

Tenacious. Unstoppable. Vital.

Worthy. Xenacious. Yielding. Zealous.

I hope that you can cement these words into your heart when you need them and believe that, from the top of your head to the soles of your feet (or in this case, from A-Z), you are uniquely and wonderfully made. And you—yes you—have the power to overcome and become everything you ever dreamed. I love you.”

To anyone reading… if no one told you lately, YOU ARE LOVE(D)!!

P.S. I see you. I hear you. I believe you.

You’re not a victim for sharing your story. You are a survivor setting the world on fire with your truth. And you never know who needs your light, your warmth, and raging courage.  ~Alex Elle
